A royal success for Will Todd and Chris Levine

A royal success for Will Todd and Chris Levine

Thursday, 7 June 2012

Will Todd and Chris Levine, two artists championed by the Genesis Foundation, have been central to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Will Todd’s new Diamond Jubilee anthem, ‘The Call of Wisdom’, received its world premiere in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen during the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral on 5 June. Click here to watch the performance.

The Genesis Foundation is proud to create a legacy for ‘The Call of Wisdom’ through a new recording on Signum Classics. To buy the CD, which features two of Todd’s Genesis Foundation commissions performed by Tenebrae and the English Chamber Orchestra conducted by Nigel Short, please click here.

Light artist Chris Levine has created a new version of his iconic holographic portrait of the Queen, Equanimity (2004), in honour of the Diamond Jubilee. The new work, The Diamond Queen, has been overlaid with a real diamond diadem created by Asprey jewelers and is currently on display at Asprey’s flagship London store. The portrait also features on special commemorative banknotes and stamps issued in Jersey. Levine is the lead artist in ‘The Queen: Art & Image’ at the National Portrait Gallery in London, where two of his works are displayed.

Will Todd and Chris Levine worked together in 2010 when Levine’s sculpture, ‘Light’, was unveiled to Todd’s choral work, ‘Among Angels’, performed by Harry Christophers and The Sixteen. Both works were commissioned by the Genesis Foundation.
