Behind the scenes: Ben Kidd on the Genesis Future Directors Award

The Genesis Foundation catches up with Ben Kidd, recipient of first Genesis Future Directors Award, following his directorial debut at the Young Vic with David Mamet’s The Shawl. In a new video interview, Ben talks about his experience working on the play and what the award has enabled him to do.

In June 2012 Ben was chosen as the first recipient of the Genesis Future Directors Award, a major new award established by the Genesis Foundation as part of its longstanding partnership with the Young Vic. It was created to nurture emerging young directors by providing them with an opportunity to explore and develop their craft as they create their first fully resourced production at the theatre. Ben’s production of The Shawl ran in the Young Vic’s Clare Theatre from 5 to 15 December 2012.
