Critical acclaim for A Doll’s House leads to extended run

Critical acclaim for A Doll’s House leads to extended run

Monday, 23 July 2012

Carrie Cracknell’s directorial debut as Genesis Fellow at the Young Vic, a compelling new version of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, has been met with high praise from the national media. Due to high demand, the run has been extended for an extra week and the play will now close on 4 August.

What the critics said:

”Carrie Cracknell’s fantastically assured production gives the 19th-century Norwegian action an airy, suburban flavour… Warmly recommended.”
Dominic Cavendish, Daily Telegraph

“There is so much to admire in this marvellous production… terrific.”
Libby Purves, The Times

“Carrie Cracknell’s production certainly puts a new spin on Ibsen’s 1879 classic… I came away spiritually recharged by confrontation with Ibsen’s masterpiece.”
Michael Billington, The Guardian

“Carrie Cracknell’s riveting production… makes Ibsen’s portrayal of half-lived lives as fresh and distressing as ever.”
Sarah Hemming, Financial Times

“A sexy, passionate interpretation of Ibsen, potent and emotionally truthful.”
Henry Hitchings, The Evening Standard

“A stunning production”
Ben Dowell, The Stage
