Genesis Foundation announces new appointments at WNO and Genesis Sixteen

The Genesis Foundation has extended the range of young artistic talent it supports through two of its partners; Welsh National Opera and The Sixteen.
Welsh National Opera and the Genesis Foundation have selected David Doidge as their first Genesis Trainee Répétiteur. David will join WNO in September for two years, taking on a role which gives an emerging musician the chance to be mentored by WNO music staff.
At the same time, The Sixteen the Genesis Foundation are delighted to announce Robbie Jacobs as the first student conductor of Genesis Sixteen, The Sixteen’s free young artists’ scheme which aims to nurture the next generation of talented ensemble singers.
John Studzinski, Founder and Chairman of the Genesis Foundation said:

Talking about his appointment as Genesis Trainee Répétiteur, David Doidge said:
“I’m really excited to be joining WNO, having already worked on and off with the Company over the last four years. I’m really looking forward to being a part of the music team and to this fantastic opportunity to work with world-renowned musicians and singers.”
This new role is the next stage in WNO’s partnership with the Genesis Foundation, which began in January 2013 with the appointment of Polly Graham as Genesis Assistant Director. When David joins WNO in September he will start by working on Carmen followed by Chorus! and The Magic Flute.
As Genesis Sixteen’s new student conductor, Robbie Jacobs will participate in all four Genesis Sixteen courses from August 2014 to July 2015 and conduct some public performances. As well as studying for a Masters in Choral Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London, he also conducts his own vocal ensemble called ‘Reverie’ that consists of Genesis Sixteen alumni. He is excited about the experience of being part of Genesis Sixteen himself and having the opportunity to learn from Harry Christophers and Eamonn Dougan.
