Genesis LAMDA Scholars Ryan Donaldson and Sam McAvoy take to the stage

Genesis LAMDA Scholars Ryan Donaldson and Sam McAvoy prepare for their first set of public shows at the Academy. Both are in their final year of study on the Three Year Acting course.

Ryan plays the religious soldier Arthur in Peter Whelan’s First World War drama, The Accrington Pals, which follows a group of men who leave their small Lancashire town to enrol in Kitchener’s New Army, and the wives they leave behind. The production runs from 16 to 20 October in The LAMDA Linbury Studio before visiting the Laundry Theatre in Bowness, Cumbria on 27 October.

Sam plays Jake Chapman in Faustus, a re-imagining of Christopher Marlowe’s tale of the dark arts. In this adaptation by Rupert Goold and Ben Power, the story of post-modern punk artists in a contemporary, godless East London unravels alongside the original Faustian fable of 16th century gothic Germany. Faustus runs from 17 to 20 October at The LAMDA Linbury Studio before visiting Cumbria on 26 October.

Both Sam and Ryan will star in a new production of Much Ado About Nothing directed by Dame Janet Suzman at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith from 29 November to 6 December.
