Genesis LAMDA Scholars Sam McAvoy and Abu Salim take to the stage

Genesis LAMDA Scholars Sam McAvoy and Abu Salim take to the stage

Monday, 18 November 2013

Genesis LAMDA Scholars Sam McAvoy and Abu Salim prepare for two public shows at the Pleasance Theatre, Islington this November and December. Abu will take the role of Egeus in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (opening 28 November) and Sam will play Lussorioso in Thomas Middleton’s Jacobean play The Revenger’s Tragedy (opening 29 November).

The Revenger’s Tragedy tells the story of Vindice – a poor gentleman on the fringes of a depraved court – and his revenge on the family who poisoned his fiancée. The play brutally satirises a political system dominated by sycophants and questions the justice system of the time.

The human and magical worlds collide in Shakespeare’s timeless A Midsummer Night’s Dream in a tale of mischief and chaos. Love at first sight proves a reality for some, and makes an ass of others.

The shows are part of the LAMDA at Large initiative, which sees students performing in professional venues across London whilst the development of the Talgarth Road campus and theatre are completed.
