Genesis Sixteen to perform at Bridgewater Hall

The second group of young singers to make up Genesis Sixteen will give a public performance at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on 2 November at 6.30pm as part of a residential training weekend in the city. The group will perform a selection of works by Benjamin Britten, Vaughan Williams, Diogo Dias Melgás and Arvo Pärt, followed by a talk from Conductor Harry Christophers and Associate Conductor Eamonn Dougan. The performance is free and open to all ticket holders for The Sixteen’s concert later that evening.

In a recent feature in the Wells Journal, Genesis Sixteen member Ben Tambling commented:

“I feel honoured to be given such a unique opportunity to be mentored by the very best in the choral music world and I am sure I will learn a vast amount before I look to further my formal singing studies in the near future.”

Genesis Sixteen is the UK’s first fully-funded training programme for young singers, launched in 2011 by the Genesis Foundation in partnership with the internationally-acclaimed ensemble The Sixteen. It provides vocal training for 18 to 23 year olds specific to future professional work in consorts and choirs, and aims to nurture the next generation of talented young voices and bridge the gap from student to professional practitioner. Over the course of a year, Genesis Sixteen’s 22 singers take part in intensive weekend and week-long courses around the UK led by artists from The Sixteen.
