International Playwrights projects presented at the Royal Court Theatre

The Royal Court Theatre presents plays and readings in February and March 2013 issued from its ground-breaking International Playwrights project supported by the Genesis Foundation.

A Time to Reap by Anna Wakulik, who took part in the 2011 International Residency for Emerging Playwrights, opens on Friday 22 February. Anna Wakulik is an exciting new Polish voice, and her play explores a woman’s story against the mountain landscape of an evolving nation and one of Poland’s hottest political topics – abortion and the Catholic Church. A Time to Reap runs until 23 March 2013.

In March 2013, the Royal Court Theatre presents a week of readings from Georgia and Ukraine from four playwrights, following workshops held in Tbilisi, Lviv and Kyiv. This formed part of a long-term project in the region led by Elyse Dodgson, Head of the Royal Court’s International Department, and Royal Court associate directors Simon Godwin and Caroline Steinbeis. Four of these plays are now presented as rehearsed readings, with panel discussions with the four playwrights on the challenges of new writing in contemporary Georgia and Ukraine.
