Next stop Brazil, for the Royal Court Theatre’s International Playwrights

The Royal Court Theatre is running a playwrights’ workshop in Brazil as part of its ground-breaking International Playwrights project supported by the Genesis Foundation.

Elyse Dodgson, Head of the theatre’s International Department, has returned to São Paulo to lead work with a new group of emerging playwrights across ten days. She is accompanied by playwright Mike Bartlett (Cock, Earthquakes in London) and Lyndsey Turner, whose directing work with the Royal Court includes Our Private Life by Colombian playwright Pedro Miguel Rozo, produced as part the 2011 International Playwrights Season. The workshop runs from 17 to 27 November.

The Royal Court Theatre has been working with Brazilian playwrights since 2000, running play development projects in São Paulo and Salvador. Since 1997 the theatre has produced dozens of full productions, staged readings and one-off events with the support of the Genesis Foundation.
