Tenebrae perform music by Will Todd at Cadogan Hall
Tuesday, 2 April 2013
On Thursday 4 April 2013 at 7.30pm, the beautiful and harmonically rich music of Will Todd, including commissions by the Genesis Foundation, will be performed at Cadogan Hall by the award-winning chamber choir Tenebrae and the English Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Nigel Short.
The Genesis Foundation has twice commissioned Todd to create new work, the critically-acclaimed ‘Among Angels’ (2006) and ‘Stay with me, Lord’ (2008), both of which feature on a CD entitled ‘The Call of Wisdom’ released on Signum Classics in 2012. The title work from the album The Call of Wisdom, was commissioned by St Paul’s Cathedral for The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Alongside Among Angels, which will be receiving its UK public premiere, Stay with me, Lord and other choral works, Will Todd introduces works that have inspired him including Bernstein’s rarely heard but profound Chichester Psalms and There is Sweet Music by Elgar. As well as some of Will’s best-loved pieces from The Call of Wisdom, there will also be the world premiere of Blessed Art Thou – an uplifting anthem for choir and orchestra.
