Tinuke Craig wins 2014 Genesis Future Directors Award at the Young Vic

The Genesis Foundation is delighted to announce that Tinuke Craig is this year’s Genesis Future Directors Award winner at the Young Vic, following in the footsteps of Matthew Xia (2013) and Ben Kidd (2012). She begins her tenure at the Young Vic with her directorial debut of dirty butterfly, a compelling drama from debbie tucker green which explores fragmented truths and twisted relationships.

The Genesis Future Directors Award nurtures and develops emerging young directors by providing them with an invaluable opportunity to explore and develop their craft as they create their first fully resourced production at the Young Vic. Tinuke won the Genesis Future Director Award following stiff competition from over 140 applicants. She will receive support and mentorship from the Young Vic’s Artistic Director David Lan, current Genesis Fellow Natalie Abrahami as well as the Genesis Directors Network.

For the first time, with increased support this year from the Genesis Foundation, the Young Vic will be able to support two emerging directors with the opportunity to direct their first fully resourced shows.  A second 2014 Genesis Future Director will be chosen later in the year.
