Press acclaim for the revival of Natalie Abrahami’s Happy Days at the Young Vic

Press acclaim for the revival of Natalie Abrahami’s Happy Days at the Young Vic

Friday, 27 February 2015

Natalie Abrahami’s highly acclaimed production of Samuel Becket’s Happy Days has returned to the Young Vic, following a hugely successful run last year. The play, featuring Olivier Award-winning stage and screen actress Juliet Stevenson as Winnie, will be on at the Young Vic’s main house until 21 March 2015. Read a selection of the glittering reviews from the national press below.

Daily Telegraph ★★★★★
‘Despite Beckett’s exacting stipulations, Abrahami has found room for tragicomic manoeuvre…[Juliet Stephenson’s] timing is faultless’

Guardian ★★★★
‘This Winnie’s ordinariness magnifies it in Natalie Abrahami’s grimly funny, absurdly painful revival.’

Arts Desk ★★★★★
‘This is…90 plus minutes of perfectly modulated near-monologue in which Stevenson’s infinite variety, channelled with no false note by wise young director Natalie Abrahami, proves you can’t draw any conclusion about our heroine’s predicament, only sheer wonder at her tenacious survival.’

Londonist ★★★★★
‘a bravura, Lear-like performance from Stevenson’
