Matthew Xia on the Genesis Future Directors Award

The Genesis Foundation catches up with Matthew Xia, current recipient of the Genesis Future Directors Award, as his sell-out play Sizwe Banzi is Dead returns to the Young Vic for a limited run at the Maria Theatre. In this film find out how Matthew is finding his experience as Genesis Future Director and how the actors in the play have reacted to being directed by Matthew.

Playing from 6 February to 1 March, Athol Fugard’s momentous, Tony-nominated play exposes the struggle for freedom and identity in apartheid-era South Africa.
