Stabat Mater 2014: Spirit, Strength & Sorrow
Thursday, 10 April 2014
On 4 June 2014 Harry Christophers and The Sixteen premiere three new settings of the “Stabat Mater” from three leading composers Alissa Firsova, Tõnu Kõrvits and Matthew Martin, commissioned by the Genesis Foundation, at a free lunchtime concert at LSO St Luke’s.
In this film the Genesis Foundation caught up with the three composers, conductor of The Sixteen Harry Christophers, Associate conductor of The Sixteen Eamon Dougan, as well as the composer James MacMillan who has taken on a mentoring role with the three composers in this project, at a workshop with Genesis Sixteen. Although Genesis Sixteen were workshopping the compositions, they will be performed by The Sixteen at the LSO St Luke’s concert in June.
Tickets are now available for ‘Stabat Mater 2014: Spirit, Strength and Sorrow’. Admission is free but advance booking is essential. For more details about this event and booking information click here.
